The Biggest Stars of the Winter Olympics are Asian Women

Asian women dominated the Winter 2026 Olympics across the podium and the internet, with millions of people worldwide celebrating their wins and weighing in on their viral moments. Three of the biggest stars from the winter games are figure skater Alysa Liu (USA), free skier Eileen Gu (China), and snow boarder Chloe Kim (USA). Not only are these women beautiful, strong, and insanely talented, but their success stories are incredibly inspiring.

What she accomplished: Representing the Bay Area and Team USA, Alysa Liu earned Olympic gold in figure skating, scoring a career-best of 226.79 points, while radiating pure joy in her heartfelt performance. Her knee slides and final twirl led her to an astounding victory.

Why we love her: Alysa’s comeback story is very inspiring. After an early retirement, she took a break to discover who she is outside of her sport and eventually returned to figure skating on her own terms. Her gold medal is a win for anyone else who has experienced burnout.

What she accomplished: At the 2026 winter games, Eileen Gu became the most decorated female free skier earning three additional medals: gold in women’s freeski halfpipe, and silver in both big air and slopestyle. She dedicated her victories to her late grandmother, revealing her passing shortly after her competition.

Why we love her: In addition to her athletics, Eileen has demonstrated how remarkably interesting she is, reminding the press that she’s only 22 and has neuroplasticity on her side. In her viral interview, Eileen laughs and responds to a male journalist’s misogynistic question without hesitation.

What she accomplished: Chloe Kim won a silver medal in the women’s snowboard halfpipe, making the win her third consecutive Olympic medal following her gold medal wins in 2018 and 2022. She is the first woman to medal in halfpipe at three straight Olympic games.

Why we love her: Chloe weighed in on President Donald Trump's comments about one of her teammates after Trump called them a “real loser” on social media for saying he only represents the parts of the US that align with his moral values. When questioned about her reaction to this in a press interview, Chloe used her platform to speak up for what she felt was right.

“Obviously, with my parents being immigrants, this one definitely hits close to home, and I think in moments like these, it really is important for us to unite and kind of stand up for one another and for what’s going on.”
