Resort is upon us again and while these collections are intended to inspire vacation outfits, they are not limited to this. Gitanjali This explores three Asian designers and their Resort 2022 collections: Sandy Liang, Anna Sui, and Prabal Gurung. 

To all non-Asian allies: keep listening, keep caring. Don’t dismiss our experiences. Hold others accountable for racist remarks and actions. Hold yourself accountable for speaking out against anti-Asian racism and for uplifting Asian voices. To all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders: stay angry, stay strong, and stay awake. Don’t let people stop talking about anti-Asian racism.

Elaine Chao has come under public scrutiny recently, first making national headlines for resigning as Secretary of Transportation under the Trump Administration in the wake of the insurrection at the Capitol.

Reported cases of violence against Asian Americans is on the rise. Last year, Stop APPI Hate Reporting Center documented 2,808 firsthand accounts of anti-Asian hate. Of those accounts, 7.3% of the victims were 60 or older. These reports include verbal assaults, avoidance, being barred from establishments, and physical assaults (coughing, spitting, shoving, etc.).

Recently an American company called The Mahjong Line, that sells “chic” versions of Mahjong, came under fire on Twitter for claims of cultural appropriation.
