When I was 5, I went on vacation to London. I was a talkative child, and said hi to everyone I walked past. Naturally, they cooed over me and asked me my name and where I was from. I said I was from Sri Lanka. Cue confused glances at my parents – Is that one of those African countries, they hesitantly ask.

It is not shocking news that a significant wage gap in the U.S. exists and likely will persist. On average, women earn less than men, and men of color earn less than white men, but there is one group that often falls off the radar when we consider the wage gap: Asian men.

We have heard the statistics multiple times, over over being broadcasted and on print; for every dollar a white male makes, an asian woman makes 85 cents,  a white woman makes 77 cents, a black woman makes 63 cents, a native American woman makes 62 cents, and a latina woman makes 54 cents.
