Fun Spring Style Tips

You may ask, why bother dressing up or putting together outfits if we’re being quarantined? Even though we’re being quarantined, it doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and bring color to our lives! There are no rules when it comes to style, we just have to make it our own. If you’re like me, you can’t wait to put outfits together for the next time you are allowed outside or if you feel like you need a change in your wardrobe. Trust me, I’ve had to analyze my closet five times to see if there’s anything I can improve or would want to integrate. I don’t feel like wearing sweatpants everyday. Especially when I only have three sweatpants. Being quarantined can seem boring because we’re always indoors. I like to stay inspired by looking at Pinterest or watching YouTube videos to see if there’s any tips I can pick up on!

  • Always have a base color then build your outfit around that color. This works for any style you’re going for whether it’s athletic, comfy, preppy, tomboy, etc. Let’s say you’re wearing a plain white shirt. Depending if you want to appear elegant or colorful, you will have pieces of your outfit coordinating with it.

  • Try a french tuck! Tuck your shirt in the front just a little bit. According to France, It adds polish to any look!

  • Try something that’s out of your comfort zone! You see a shirt that looks phenomenal on someone else but you’re afraid it won’t look the same on you. You’re right, it won’t because everyone is different. The clothes you try on will look a bit different because no one is the same. That doesn’t mean you can’t at least try it on! If it looks amazing on you, then get it and make it your own style!

  • Mix up textures if you’re wearing a monochrome outfit. You can mix shiny pieces with matte pieces. You can do a fuzzy sweater with cotton pants. You can even use a silk texture.

  • Bags & accessories will make your outfit look put together. If you’re new to bags and/or accessories, just one accessory whether it’s sunglasses, necklaces, etc and choose one that you are in love with. If you truly love that piece, then you’ll be excited to wear it everyday! It’s the same with bags, choose one that you know you’ll use everyday.

Take these outfits outside and have a photoshoot! Nothing builds up your confidence more than having fun in style!

Art Roundup

Overachiever Magazine was started by Rehana Paul in October of 2018 to give a platform to all Asian women, non-binary people, and other gender minorities.

Our name is poking fun at the stereotype that all Asians are overachievers, especially Asian women, non-binary people, and other gender minorities. It’s also in recognition of all of us who have had no choice but to be overachievers: managing societal expectations, family obligations, and educational opportunities, all while fighting the patriarchy.

We have grown since then, putting out bimonthly issues (we are contributor powered: apply to write for our next one!), and weekly reviews of culture, and news that is important to us.

You can find announcements, more news, and get to know our staff on social media: give us a follow, and learn how you can get involved today!

We do not claim to speak for all Asian women, non-binary people, and other gender minorities. We are just here to give them a place to speak for themselves.

We hope you’ll join us.
